Pleat is a lampshade and lamp base made of glass jars, paper tissue that has been sewn to create ruffles, and brown paper packaging that has simply been folded. This product holds quite a geometric shape and has a masculine feel about it but with a soft touch.

Making Instructions (Login to see the full instructions)

When all the jars have been cleaned (soaked in warm water overnight, labels peeled off) drill the holes for the wiring. Drill holes in the bottoms of the top two jars.
For the bottom jar, drill the hole in the side, on the bottom.
To make the ruffles, you'll need paper tissue/napkin (mine were from Graze boxes), scissors, needle and thread.
Cut the tissue into strips.
Sew a simple straight stitch along the middle.
Pull on the thread so that it bunches and creates 'ruffles'.
How it should look.
These ruffles then go into the jars,
To make the lampshade, I used brown packaging paper that comes with some orders.
The paper was perforated so I tore it along the lines to split the paper into smaller sheets.
I layered two of these and stuck them together using spray mount. This made the material a bit stiffer and held it's shape better.
Once dry, fold forwards then backwards alternately.
You'll end up with the above shape. I stuck three of these together to form the lampshade.
Final lampshade.
I then sewed the lamshade onto a frame,
How it looked once attached.
I then needed to wire the lamp.
I used glass glue to stick the jars together.
When all three were arranged, place them in direct sunlight to allow the glue to cure.
Once dry, wire the lamp holder. Only the blue (neutral) and brown (live) wires are used.
Attach them as pictured, then screw everything into place and add bulb.
Final product.
