Making Instructions (Login to see the full instructions)

Started with a bag which included parts of an old tent and old shoes-(which we later did not use)
Experimented with silhouette and idea development on a mannequin
Decided on design ideas, the bottom underneath part of the tent for the outer hood, calico for the inside of the hood, main fabric for the tent will be the main outer fabric for the jacket, rubbery waterproof material for facing and pockets
Developed a jacket pattern and created a hood
Cut out in fabric and made the hood with outer waterproof and inside as calico
Spray painted most of the outer fabrics
Fused plastic wallets using iron, trapping coloured embroidery threads between layers, using baking parchment paper to protect the iron - (relating to our 'caged, trapped, bully victim theme)
Put together side seams trapping the pockets and added hood
Added fastenings from the existing tent (eyelets and rope)
Put together sleeves with separate panels of fabric, mainly the main tent fabric, then the cuff as the outer waterproof material
Overlocked all seams to keep everything neat
Added sleeves to the garment and the hem
Tied fastenings and tidied up loose threads
