It is estimated that we are served over 500 million drinks with straws daily, meaning 500 million straws are throw away!
For this project I have collected straws from coffee shops Starbucks and Costa and turned them into products that these types of companies could potentially use in there shop to encourage not only recycling of this waste but upcycling, to create lighting, sugar pots, menu stands and even coasters.
Here are examples of lights that could be made.

Materials & Equipment List

-A collection of Straws from Starbucks and Costa
-Scissors
-Wire
-Iron/Heat Press
-Grease proof paper

Making Instructions (Login to see the full instructions)

To make one of the lights at home, first collect straws and cut up in the shape you want
put all the cut up pieces in a rectangle using a guide
put grease proof paper on top and apply heating using an iron
once cooled, peel the paper off and your left with a sheet of fused straws.

roll it around a light fixing and attach each end using wire.
